If it's all black it better be HOT!!!

Alexander McQueen feathered frock

I was doing some cruising through fashion collections and I noticed that in just about all the collections no matter what season there was the Iconic LBD (little black dress). It is a top 10 fashion essential as we all know by now and if you don't know this well... shame on you! Any who, I was thinking when people want to be safe they throw on all black. they hit the streets and go to whatever parties and social gatherings and they look good, but do they look fabulous is the question.

Now I can't be the one to talk because I for sure went through my all black phase and it had some highs and lows. Now I know that as a my fashion palate is ever growing I know that even if it is all black look it must be fierce! This is way I am saying "If it's all black it better be Hot, cus if it ain't then your not!".

The key to having a fabulous all black look is in these 3 easy tips:
  1. Layers- for they are your friend, the more the merrier
  2. Textures- playing with multiple textures keeps the eye moving and stimulates the visual sense
  3. Sheer- working in sheer fabrics give a illusion of nakedness and exposes the natural curves of your body in an artistic way

Now most people know that the simple black look was made famous by Coco Chanel, but The little Black dress was made famous by Herbert de Givenchy. Thanks to his muse Audrey Hepburn for sporting the LBD in the Iconic movie "Breakfast at Tiffany's" Givenchy changed the face of fashion. He made it very clear that if you invest in one key item you will be able to go from the office to the Opera just by adding and subtracting accessories.

I know we all have a great all black outfit that we run to for that last minute outing or when we just can't make up out minds on what to wear but lets try for something new. Lets reinvent our go to black outfit so that it will have all eyes on you and just as if you were wearing the rainbow, Cheers!!!!!!

Paparazzi... you shot me down!

As you all know I am celebrity in my own right, I have been in the public eye all my life. It starts with my grandparents. My G-father is a DJ and has many close friends in the music industry, from The Temptations to Prince. (Quick side bar he stayed at our house back in '95, but that is a story for another time.) Also Aretha Franklin is my G-fathers 1st cousin so you can only imagine what comes from having that relation. Then there is my mother, a Chicago socialite who has a huge following on the underground circuit. Oh yes, don't let me forget she is one of the top vegan/vegetarian chiefs in the city.

I guess it was just meant to be for me to go down that same path. I must say I am use to it by
now. It is however nice to be refereed to as Daniel Squire and not my "Grandparents Grandson" or my "Mothers Kid". It is actually the other way around now and they are know as "Daniel's Grandparents" and "Daniel's Mother" which I fund to be hilarious. I have been through many things to have this happen, everything from rumors be spread to photos not in my favor but it's the price one must pay.

Now let me get to the point. I am writing this post for all my celeb hopefuls, you must know who is your friend and who is out to get you. Meaning the paparazzi, they can be a very vicious and will do whatever it takes to get a pic of you be it good but preferably bad. Try and make friends with the photogs, I have 7 of which I more than happy to pose for. You have to read their energy and watch how they interact with the crowd, but most import know who they are shooting for.

Example: I was at an event last night with a dear friend of mine, as we were heading out a photog that is on my avoid list saw me and asked to take my pic to which I said "I'm leave" and proceeded out the door. We were almost out the place but my friend stopped to but on her jacket and he followed us out and hounded us to take a pic to which I finally said okay. He then began to take pictures of us before we were ready and then once we were ready he asked for silly poses which I told him " no thank you" and " we need to go".

Once we left the building I told my friend he shoots for a gossip site and we might end up on it, but because we did not do the poses he wanted we more then like would not. I think it's funny and know that in this day and age all publicity is good publicity but you have those days when you just don't want to be bothered. It is a pain having to keep an eye open for who is out to get you but that comes with the job. As a celeb we deal with everything and always must have a smile to keep the fans happy.

End the end the best way to keep from going crazy is to keep it moving and know that at the end of the day be it good or bad, people are talking about you and that is how you stay relevant in these times. Cheers!!!!!!

Au Revoir Galliano

Hello my dear friends, I have been taking some time to get through some personal matters that's why I have not posted anything in the past week and a half. Things started to take a turn for the better, but I got some very depressing news and my who fashion world came to a halt. If you keep up with the world fashion then you know what I am speaking about and understand how this could mess me up, but for those of you who are lost let me feel you in. The head designer for fashion house Christian Dior a Mr. Juan Carlos Antonio Galliano-Guillén best known by John Galliano(picture to the left) was Terminated from his position after allegation of racist remarks made at a Paris cafe to some travelers. This was then confirmed to be true by video footage of the Mr.Galliano that was taken in secret during the ordeal.

I must say I was shocked when I seen the footage but it was obvious that John was clearly drunk during the altercation and do to his inebriation was not all the way coherent to what he was saying. It is sad to think that this man who took the House of Dior and made it into an all new world of fantasy when he came in 14 years ago is no longer there and now his name and reputation is stained. I never got to meet him but I was able to attend a few of his pret-a-porter shows when I did frequent Paris during "Paris Fashion Week" and It was so inspiring just to be in the building he was in.

I think that he will make a comeback after this horrific mess of a media scandal, which will go down in fashion history and pop culture and leave a very nasty taste in people mouths. I can only imagine being at this past show which was the designers official last collection for the House of Dior. I do know there were many tears inside the tent erected in the gardens of the Musée Rodin that day as the show came to an end.

I am not sure what is to come for the House of Dior but I know they will make some great things happen until they have new front runner. Names are being tossed around to find a new designer such as Riccardo Tisci designer for the House of Givenchy, Alber Ebaz from the House of Lanvin and Haider Ackermanncthe new kid on the block. I am still amazed the queen of the fashion world Anna Wintor has said nothing about this whole thing. I am sure she is voicing her opinion to Christopher de Lapuente president of LVMH and Sidney Toledano CEO of Dior. They have so much at stake with this decision and by picking the wrong successor for the world renowned fashion house it could hit a ice patch and go into a fashion relapse like Christian Lacroix did in the 90's.

My sources tell me that Tisci is already confirmed just not publicly yet. If that is the case although Tisci is an amazing designer he would have some very big shoes to feel both figuratively and literally. This how thing just makes me super excited about Paris Fashion Week this July, I am going to be in a mad hunt to get a sit for Dior's Couture show this summer because this scandal has just made Dior the hottest show to get into. Cheers!!!!!!
